| In 1999, Noel
Cronin, (previous founder and Managing Director of Dandelion
Distribution Ltd) formed Renown Pictures Ltd, an independent production
and distribution company, which also houses its own editing facilities.
Noel immediately took Renown into the British feature film production
of "THE GHOST OF GREVILLE LODGE", starring George Cole and
Prunella Scales, which instantly became a success both in the UK
and America. Renown Pictures own the rights for several old British
titles, to name but a few… classics such as "BAND OF THIEVES"
starring Acker Bilk; "BE MY GUEST" starring Jerry Lee Lewis/The
Zephyrs/Kenny & the Wranglers; "LIVE IT UP" starring
Kenny Ball & his Jazzmen and Gene Vincent; "DATELINE DIAMONDS"
starring Kiki Dee and the Small Faces; "GAMES THAT LOVER’S
PLAY" starring Joanna Lumley and "WHITE CARGO" starring
David Jason.
From 2001 Renown has been concentrating on expanding its production
and distribution relationships worldwide. Such expansion
has resulted in the recent success of their co-production
with Crawford’s Australia and YTV Canada on
the hit "tween" series "GUINEVERE JONES", in
which Sarah Cronin assisted with the production. Guinevere
Jones is an edgy entry into the fantasy/witchcraft
genre for teens and has been a huge success worldwide,
licensed to Foxtel, Network 10, France 2, Showtime,
Canal J and just recently Nickelodeon UK.
2002 saw Renown launch into the production of "ON A WING AND
A PRAYER", (Executive Producer, Sarah
Cronin-Stanley) a breath-taking one-hour special documenting
the drama of bush pilots and aid workers in war torn Sudan. The
documentary is a fascinating insight into forgotten wars, it exposes
the money operations behind human slave trading and the stealth
underground network of aid workers trying to save lives with fistfuls
of dollars. Production continued with "THE ELMOLOS", produced
for Channel 5 (fitting into their strand of extraordinary people,
The Elmolos is a one-hour special on an extraordinary tribe near
the border of Sudan who have strange aquatic features and skills).
To date, Renown has over 2000 hours of programming in development
consisting of new funky ideas and formats ranging from investigative
one-hour special documentaries to weird and wacky 30-minute travel
series.
Since then Renown Pictures has increased it’s library to over 2000
hours of programming, including all time favourite
British Classics, including the original SCROOGE
starring Alistair Simm and George Cole and many other
well known titles like TOM BROWN’s SCHOOL
DAYS, PICKWICK PAPERS and
many all star cast series for example: BIG
VALLEY, THE DAVID NIVEN SHOW , HONEY WEST
etc. Please
see our distribution Library for more information
of our titles and their availabilities.
Sarah Cronin has also been busy producing a major Special with
TONIGHT WITH TREVOR MCDONALD - "Our Men Behaving badly" is the result
of Sarah's four years of intensive investigation into the shocking
allegations of rape with impunity by 100's of members of the British
Army who allegedly have committed more than 2187 acts of rape on
local tribeswomen. The programme is to be aired on Wednesday March
2nd on ITV 1 .It contains many extracts of exclusive
footage shot over the four years by Sarah and her team.
