In a serene rural community, a young palaeontologist and his assistant discover some strange Indian cave drawings depicting dinosaurs, creatures that had become extinct thousands of years before the Indians appeared.

Odd earthquake- like vibrations are felt around the lake area. Fish begin to disappear from the lake and the water temperature starts to rise dramatically.

All of these facts seem coincidentally unusual until a series of bizarre murders begin to occur in this small lakeside village.

Tourists who rent fishing boats start to vanish, leaving only blood stained canoes behind. A senator is found next to the lake mutilated, with huge teeth marks covering his body. The animals of local residents begin to disappear.

A young sheriff finally attempts to solve the mysterious puzzle, enlisting the aid of the palaeontologist and a few local residents.

In a breathtaking climax, the sheriff attempts to save the village by destroying the perpetrator of these crimes – a huge dinosaur trapped in a world he does not understand….
