| Description |
MUSICAL
Starring for the first time in a ‘talkie’ movie, the great director of silent movies Erich Von Stroheim finds himself in the role of a ventriloquist, a strange twist of fate for one of the most immense men in the history of Cinema. Directed by James Cruze, Von Stroheim is Gabbo, a selfish ventriloquist who convinces himself that his puppet is real. “The Great Gabbo” was the first film in which Von Stroheim acted after being thrown off the set of his own “Queen Kelly” and it can not be excluded that he contributed some of his own ideas to Cruze’s direction. Among the masterpieces directed by this Austrian Actor-director let us remember “Blind Husbands”, “Foolish Wives” and “Greed”. |
